Angelman syndrome is a congenital neurological developmental disorder and named after the English pediatrician Harry Angelman who first described a number of children with this syndrome in 1965. Patients with Angelman syndrome often have typical facial features, epilepsy, lack of speech development and a severe mental handicap.
