Speaking skills

Children with WBS have delayed speech development. They usually do not learn to speak until around the age of 3 years. Later in life, they usually have remarkably well-developed spoken language and an extensive vocabulary. They talk a lot and like to talk. However, they often use words they have heard without really understanding them. As a result, children with WBS are often overestimated in their ability. Adults with WBS often ‘rant’ excessively, ask irrelevant or inappropriate questions and have difficulty keeping a conversation going.
