Through an MRI scan

In children with developmental delays, an MRI scan of the brain will often be made. Especially when Williams syndrome is not yet suspected. No typical abnormalities are usually seen on the MRI scan. The only thing that may stand out is that there is slightly less brain tissue than usual for the age and that the brain cavities are slightly wider than normal as a result.
