Als baby drinken personen met WBS moeilijk, weigeren soms voedsel en hebben veelvuldig last van braken, buikkrampen, verstoppingen of diarree. Daardoor zijn het prikkelbare baby's, die vooral 's nachts veel huilen en onrustig zijn. Het huilen wordt soms ook in verband gebracht met een te hoog calciumgehalte. Deze problemen gaan doorgaans over bij het opgroeien.
