The arrowhead shape of exons indicate that they include a codon requiring two further nucleotides from the adjacent exon to be completed, the arrow tail indicates that there is a codon requiring another nucleotide to be complete. Arrows indicate the rough positions of starting codons used in different transcripts.
Bottom: Organization of different TCF4 protein isoforms. White numbered rectangles indicate exons, shaded areas the location of important functional domains. The NLS domain is coded by exons 7 and 8. For clarity purpose, only three of the many isoforms are depicted. AD1 and AD2: activation domain 1 and 2; NLS nuclear localization signal; bHLH: basic helix-loop-helix domain.
