Dental challenges

Question

What sort of dental challenges did your child face?

Answer of our experts

  • My little one has all her teeth. Her back ones look very small, almost like it's just the tops have come through. She hates her teeth being cleaned and heaves like mad and clamps her teeth on the toothbrush. We have brought non foaming tooth paste, but she still hates it.

(Parent of a 5 year old daughter)

  • My son has major overcrowding in his mouth. Since his jaw is small there isn't a lot of room for all his teeth. He has a second row of teeth growing behind the front row on the bottom that we call his "shark teeth". He lost teeth late and they are slow growing in. (He's 12 and still has molars that haven't grown in yet.) His front teeth are big but we are waiting for him to grow into them. We are hoping that he will tolerate orthodontics sometime down the road.

(Parent of 12 year old son)

  • My son had shark teeth too. His baby teeth looked good, but the permanent teeth were a challenge similar to what you describe.

(Parent of 34 year old son)

  • My son has an open bite. His front teeth don't have contact when his jaws are closed. He is only 3 years old, but all teeth that he should have by now, he has.

(Parent of 3 year old son)
